I was “skinny” all of my pre-children years and involved in many sports activities. Then, the trials and excitement of a family combined with working and all of a sudden less time existed for those jogs and workouts. My weight went up about 30 pounds slowly over a number of years. So, I was ready to take action and join a gym again. I had to consider this action just as important as my family time and work…I had to schedule it. So, after about one month of faithfully going 3-4 times a week for an hour to East Shore Athletic Club and doing my own routine..nothing really happened. Then, I had my consult with Mel. He listened to my goals, established my baseline health data and designed a program for me to adhere to on my own…physical activity as well as watching my nutrition/calorie intake. Mel provided numerous ways to arrange and re-arrange my routine, shift weights, alter cardio exercise and encouraged me to be there as often I could.

Every so many weeks, he’d check on how I was doing. I greatly appreciate the “virtual” guiding hand that Mel has provided in getting me back into the clothing size that I wore a few years ago. I know his ideas to help me prepare an organized yet changing workout routine with different intensity levels was the backbone to my success.
