I won't go into detail but Lisa and I should be parents by next Wednesday evening....
Meanwhile, I'm going to follow on with my Christmas Carol philosophy. And it's because of a conversation I had with a mother and daughter at the gym. So here's the preface of what I'm planning on writing. I can remember what I was like when I was 18, 28, 38 and of course how I am now at 48.
I started a new paragraph because I wanted to write about a conversation I had with a client of mine - it's part of this observation. He started training with me almost a year ago and was obese when he started. He's 61 years old and now is in great shape except for the fact that he still has a gut. And if her drank beer I'd say it was a beer gut. But his libation of choice is red wine. And I think he drinks at least a bottle a night! Suffice to say, he's never going to lose that last 12-15 pounds. We were training the other day and he said he remembers saying to himself when he was younger - teens, twenties and thirties - that he couldn't believe that people could get so fat! His exact words were "I could never imagine me being overweight let alone obese." And then one day he walks into the gym needing to lose 40 pounds. He distinctly remembers feeling disgusted by fat people.....interesting....
So there was a mother and daughter in the gym. The mom is probably late thirties or early forties. And the daughter is 15 going on 25!!! I worked with them briefly about six months ago and then they both disappeared....there's a shock. And then a month or so ago the mom came back in. And she looked as if she was about the same as she was when we first met. Perhaps carrying 10 pounds of extra weight. Nothing in the grand scheme of things. Just this week, the daughter came in with her.....and I think she's put on about 10 pounds since I last saw her. And she's one of those unfortunate types who grow around the middle. She's a really pretty young girl who I would have categorized as a little chubby around the waist when we first met. Now I have to say that she's a really pretty girl who is fat!
Jokingly her mother and I told her to go hang out at KMart and watch the people who go shopping there. And pick out the 25 or 26 year olds who have to circle the parking lot until there's a space near the entrance because they're so fat they can't walk very far!!!! That is going to be her....and yes that's a really harsh thing to say. But it's nothing more than a bloody rhinoceros head on the coffee table. And I have to head to work so I'll continue anon....
