Yes, it's the same Jack Burkman who is allegedly part of the DC Madam scandal that's going on.....but my guess is that his protagonists are very politically driven......anyhoo....
I’m finally feeling as if I’m going to survive! My body has been wracked with pain since Saturday. The day after my father in law kicked my arse at racquetball. 4 sets to zero. And I didn’t even get a point in the last set. Or is it game? I don’t know. The moral of this entry is that it really doesn’t make a difference who you are and how fit you are, if you subject your body to
Today is the first day that I can remember that I don't have a client - period!! My usual victims are on vacation. So it's bad news in the respect that I'm going to earn zip today. But it's good news because I can go visit people and places and start to get my flyers and brochures out there. Which is what used to be my forte when I was in sales. Glad handing one might call it.
And the reason for that is a definite lack of news articles about the growing waistlines of the American public! A day without a headline regarding type 2 diabetes or concerns about people getting fatter is a good sign if you ask me.
As Lisa and I ate our dinner of chicken over salad we talked about my entry from yesterday. We asked each other if we knew why things had got so bad. Neither of us had definitive observations, but certainly had thoughts as to why. Mine are varied and numerous.
There was a small article in today's paper talking about the fact that obese girls are twice as likely not to go to college as girls who aren't obese. Or, put another way, they have a 50 per cent less chance of going to college. If you look at that statement and take it merely for the words that are used, you should experience numerous emotions. Personally I'm saddened. And irritated.
Now that was a really interesting research paper that came out regarding who you hang out with can directly affect how you look - weight wise that is. And my first response is duh! No offense to the researchers and the money that's been spent on this but, I could have told you that a long time ago. I've preached it to anyone and everyone I've trained. Of course it's not as scientific or detailed as they've come up with but it's definitely the same observations.
I'm just about to head to the gym to go for a nice easy 4 or 5 mile run before I train my last client of the day. I went to the doctor today with Lisa and the pregnancy is coming along swimmingly. 32 weeks down, 7 or 8 to go. Business at the gym has been quite good for me considering it's the dog days of summer. Next week is going to be slower because I have people on vacation and so I'm going to make my first foray into off-site marketing of wightlossbymel. So all in all, things are splendid.
And I want to paste in something I wrote to myself on Monday
It's Monday at one o'clock and I'm listening to the two most talented television commentators I've ever heard. Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin are telling me who's doing what and why on some 'hors de categorie' climb in the Pyrenees. I'm like a kid in a candy store. I love the Tour de France. Even though my best friend in England said he thought it was being sponsored by some disposable syringe company!!
I harp on about nutrition to everyone I train. Energy in equals energy out! If you don't have some nutrition in your system you're not going to have your best workout. You're going to be spending good money on something that you won't be able to complete. I have a litany of observations. Well, yesterday I met my words!
